As of today (April 1, 2025), the UK’s National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates have increased as follows:
-
Aged 21 and over (National Living Wage): £12.21 per hour, up from £11.44.
-
Aged 18 to 20: £10.00 per hour, up from £8.60.
-
Aged 16 to 17 and apprentices: £7.55 per hour, up from £6.40.
These adjustments aim to support workers in managing living expenses amid rising costs. For a full-time worker aged 21 or over, this increase translates to an additional £1,400 annually.
Employers are required to comply with these new rates and should update payroll systems accordingly. If you believe you are not receiving the appropriate wage, you can use the government’s minimum wage calculator to check your pay and contact Acas for assistance if necessary.
