Important dates:

The dates for paying your self-assessment are:

  • 31 January (balancing payment and your first payment on accounts)
  • 31 July for your second payment on account.The easiest way to pay your self-assessment bill using this link “Pay your self assessment bill”

You don’t need to sign into your tax account if you prefer not to.

You will be asked for your self-assessment unique taxpayer reference (UTR) which can be found on your tax return that we send over for signature (top left)

There are other ways to pay to.

Same or next day

  • Direct through your online bank account
  • Online or telephone banking
  • CHAPS

  • BACS
  • Direct Debit

Cheques should be made payable to “HM Revenue and Customs only” you will need to write your UTR number on the back and allow 5 days for it to reach them. Please note that HMRC will charge interest if payment is late.
